Fresno REALTORS Thrilled with Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Fresno
Fresno and Clovis REALTORS, Ken and Carol Maul, were privileged to attend the Youth Orchestras of Fresno concert at the Paul Shaghoian Concert Hall on the Clovis North Campus of the Clovis Unified School District.
Under the director of Thomas Loewenheim, conductor, the 101 musicians in the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra performed the Violin Concerto in D Major by Brahms with Ukrainian-born Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman. Also presented was Shostakovich's Symphony No. 12 in D Minor.
The Youth Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the Shastakovich Twelfth Symphony again in Los Angeles on June 16. There they will be playing at the Orchestra Festival at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Youth Orchestras of Fresno is comprised of musicians from over 50 elementary, middle and high schools, as well as local colleges. It was established in 1950 as an all-city ensemble. Today it is an independent nonprofit serving youth throughout California's Central Valley. Over 200 students participate in the three orchestras: The Youth Chamber Orchestra, the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. The participants range in age from 6 to 19 and come from 15 cities.
Auditions for the orchestras are scheduled for August 28 and 29 and September 4 and 5 of this year. Programs are scheduled for 2010 and 2011. For more information and concert dates see Youth Orchestras of Fresno.
