Fresno REALTORS Attend Sing-Along Hymn Festival
Fresno and Clovis REALTORS, Ken and Carol Maul, recently attended a Sing-Along Hymn Festival, "Hymns of Grace and Glory," at University Presbyterian Church on Cedar near Bullard in Northeast Fresno.
Presented by the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), the Hymn Festival featured the Pacific Chamber Singers of Fresno Pacific University, under the direction of Dr. Roy L. Klassen who also directed all of the congregational hymn singing, and the Pacific Brass, also of Fresno Pacific University, under the direction of Wayne Huber.
Also participating were organists from the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of AGO, including Richard Cencibaugh, Joy Gaje, Jean Hays, Scott Horton, Laurell Huber, Constance Ellenberger and Catherine Walker.
Other participants were Pamela Merritt Caldwell, Minister of Worship and Music at University Presbyterian Church accompanying the hymns on the grand piano, the University Presbyterian Church Handbell Choir under the direction of David N. Knudson, choir members from College Community Congregational Church, Butler Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church and University Presbyterian Church and Arlene Steffen, accompanist for the Pacific Chamber Singers.
The Rev. Dr. Chris Erdman, pastor of University Presbyterian Church, welcomed the large congregation to the festival and closed the festival with a benediction.
The hymns selected were very familiar hymns and were sung in four parts, all accompanied by organ and piano, as well as by the bell choir. Some hymns also included descants by the sopranos. It was a grand hymn festival.
