Fresno Grand Opera Presents Rigoletto
Fresno REALTORS, Ken and Carol Maul, enjoyed the Fresno Grand Opera's presentation of Rigoletto at the Saroyan Theatre in Downtown Fresno.
This opera was staged in Fresno in 2001, but this time Artistic Director, Joseph Bascetta, updated the opera to 1940 Fascist Italy. The costumes and hair styles are very decade appropriate.
In addition, the orchestra was moved to the back of the stage behind a scrim, allowing the pit area to be covered and bringing the artists closer to the audience. The result was a much more intimate setting.
Rigoletto was performed Friday night and will be repeated on Sunday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m.
At 1:05 p.m., Fresno State Music Professor, Anthony Radford, will discuss aspects of the opera story, composer and historical background in the lower lobby of the Saroyan Theatre. Admission is free with an opera admission.
See Fresno Grand Opera for ticket information.
